our history
Our work is supported from a grant initiative, funded by the Community Foundation of Jackson Hole, fiscally sponsored by the Mental Wellness Collaborative.
Since 2019, our community has made a concerted effort to better address the needs of gender diverse community members and visitors. In 2021, the first formal group started as the “Jackson Hole Gender Diversity Project”. At its inception, project founders held the first monthly virtual support groups and community picnic for gender diverse community members. In 2024, programming expanded greatly with the award of a Behavioral Health Initiative Catalyst Grant from the Community Foundation of Jackson Hole. The Project has now evolved into what it is today—Gender Diversity Wyoming, and continues to expand and evolve to meet the needs of the gender diverse community locally and beyond.
our goals
We aim to meaningfully connect gender diverse individuals and families, improve quality of life, and expand access to affirming behavioral health services, medical care, and resources. We achieve this by creating supportive spaces for gender diverse community members and their families while training local providers and organizations to become more gender inclusive.
who we
serve
Community Members
We support everyone in our community! This includes people who have long identified as transgender, those with an inkling that something about their gender identity or expression doesn't feel quite right, and their loved ones—parents, partners, and friends. If you're simply wanting to learn more about gender diversity and how to be a supportive friend or neighbor, we're here for you too.
Professionals
We work with professionals across the spectrum: those wanting to learn about gender diversity, providers developing expertise in gender-affirming care, organizations creating inclusive workplaces, and anyone wanting to ensure that everyone who walks through their doors knows they're welcome.
